Our Story

We believe there is a gap in Science engagement, opportunities and networking across schools in Birmingham. Our aim? To fill it.

VISION

To connect the schools of Birmingham under a single science network where students can integrate and develop their understanding of science.

MISSION

To provide resources to school students in Birmingham in order to raise awareness, interest and develop knowledge in the world of science.

1

Science lays the foundation of our society. It is the centre of progress and advancement. Hence the next generation must be inspired and encouraged to enter STEM fields.

2

Birmingham is the most deprived area in the West Midlands County, and 7th most deprived nationally. STEM must be accessible to all, regardless of background.

3

There is a gap in STEM engagement in secondary schools across Birmingham. Students must be encouraged to explore science outside of the classroom, to explore new concepts and ideas.

THE NEED

For a Science Network in Birmingham

SO, WHAT EXACTLY DO WE WANT TO BECOME?

We aspire to become a robust platform for pre-university students to gain learning and exposure in STEM fields. We aim to provide opportunities to students and academia alike; to promote networking. Our series of monthly talks, which started this September, aims to raise interest in a multitude of scientific topics, from nuclear waste disposal to Aeronautical Engineering. Alongside this, we hope to host science quizzes, essay and poster competitions, provide career support and mentoring.
